Derby as Home

Posted by: Bitches Bruze   in Family

Home, in derby, happens whenever you strap on skates and skate with another. At rinks and parks, gyms and auditoriums anywhere, lacing up and rolling brings a comfort and camaraderie akin to coming home after a long day.

This phenomenon happens because we develop balance with our skates and the family we build in our own team extends through the entire derby community. When we are comfortable with our selves and our body, no matter how new the surroundings, or how long we’ve known the person or people we skate with. It keeps us coming to practice regardless of obstacles and returning to bouts in spite of any perceived risk. Skating is home.
